Built in 1907, this historic building was built after the big earthquake of 1906. This property was acquired in 2004. It has 2 floors and consist of 22 rooms. The first floor has 8 rooms and occupied by tourist. The 2nd floor are occupied by permanent residents and some students. All our rooms are shared bath. There are 2 showers in each floors, three toilets on the 2nd floor and two toilets on the first floor. After I bought the property, I renamed it after my Mom's name which is Luz, hence Luz Hotel. Luz means light in Spanish although i am a Filipino, we were governed by Spain for centuries that is why the Spanish influence is very strong until the present. They first settled in the island in the 16th century named the island after King Philip 11 of Spain until the 19th century when we were colonized by America.

The Luz Hotel is centrally located at 725 Geary Street between Leavenworth and Hyde Streets. We are minutes walking distance away to Union Square District and the Cable Car line on Powell Street. The Hotel is individually owned and operated. We proudly offer accommodations in the hospitality industry with our own unique distinct style. Our goal is to keep it pure and simple, no frills, fancy bars and so on. We give importance on comfortable beds, affordable prices, the highest level of service with the utmost respect to the privacy of our guest and emphasis on hospitality with a smile from the heart. This hotel is best compared to European style Pension House where rooms have shared bath and toilets that are well maintained. The Luz is a temporary home for everyone.
